Our School
The Virtual Academy of North Texas will close at the end of the 2023-24 school year.
The campus was funded by the American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ARP ESSER) Fund (federal funds provided following the COVID-19 pandemic). The government discontinued the funding in January 2024. As a result, WSISD no longer has adequate funding for a virtual school. For the Virtual Academy to be a stand-alone campus WSISD can financially maintain, enrollment must be at minimum 250 students. We currently have 155 students.
The Virtual Academy of North Texas is a school of choice that provides families with a more flexible academic environment. The choice campus offers a high quality, rigorous online learning program. Kindergarten through tenth grade students participate in a rigorous online curriculum in the core subjects as well as PE and fine arts.
The Academy is the perfect fit for:
· Families that desire an online learning experience and/or home-school atmosphere;
· Families that need flexibility; and
· Families with special health considerations.
Students and teachers build relationships not only through the daily online lessons but through optional in-school events. Teachers are fully certified, adhering to the state and White Settlement ISD curriculum. The staff is dedicated to providing the best virtual learning opportunity for students, while building relationships to foster each student’s independence and academic growth.
Application Process
An application process, document review, and admission assessment (for students without STAAR scores) is required. All requested documents must be received before the application review process can occur.
Grades 9 & 10
The Virtual Academy of North Texas will expand to ninth and 10th grade for the 2023-24 school year. Students will have the option to be All Virtual or Hybrid (virtual and some in person courses). Extra-curricular activities and electives will only be offered in person. Click here for the Course Offerings.
